Mesmers stable Alberschwende
The museum of local history in Alberschwende is spread over two locations. The show in the Arzthaus offers insights into the rural way of life and living culture of the 18th and 19th centuries. One focal point is dedicated to the career "From flax to linen". The "Mesmers Stall" branch has been in existence since 2005. In the lavishly renovated former farm building of the Mesnerpfründe - located directly next to the church - the exhibition "From A to B" has been on display since fall 2018, taking a cultural-historical look at Alberschwende during the change of transport and its pioneers.
The initiative for a museum in Alberschwende came from the local veterinarian. Ulrich Mittelberger collected everything that could have fallen victim to the ravages of time or traveling traders. Supported by architect Herbert Metzler and Erich Winder, the first opening took place in July 1977. In 2000, the museum was redesigned under the direction of Herbert Klas. The current exhibition in "Mesmer's Stable" was launched in 2018 by the Kulturmeile association.
